Version 3 of 2025 Immunisation Handbook published

Version 3 of the 2025 Immunisation Handbook has now been published.

You can find it on the Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora website (including a PDF version). A full summary of changes can be found here

 Major updates for this version include: 

  • COVID-19 vaccine eligibility: funded for those eligible for health and disability services in New Zealand.
  • Caution about dosage and level of immunosuppression of azathioprine or 6-mercptopurine when co-administered with xanthine oxidase inhibitors.
  • Added spacing between mpox and COVID-19 vaccine, as a matter of caution 
  • Permitting a third dose of MMR to be given if serologically negative when they have two documented MMR doses. Also giving a choice to either conduct serology or offer an additional dose for occupational protection.  
  • Mentioned potential rare event following Mpox vaccination.
         

Vaccinators are encouraged to regularly check the Immunisation Handbook on the Health New Zealand website and use the most current available version.
