Overview

Please note: this course is only for staff who have been provided with an access coupon via their district influenza occupational health lead.

This course is designed to provide the knowledge and skills needed for health professionals to provide high quality, safe and effective delivery of influenza vaccines to their peers during the influenza season.

  • Medico-legal and professional requirements
  • Influenza
  • Influenza vaccines
  • Pre-Vaccination and administration
  • Post-Vaccination
  • Peer vaccinator responsibilities

On completion of the course and sign up to the Te Whatu Ora standing order the Peer Vaccinators (PV), can vaccinate Staff, Medical, Nursing and Allied Health Students and selected contractors against influenza as part of the occupational health programme. The Peer Vaccinators will need to work with the occupational health departments regarding local processes such as access to the vaccine.

Prerequisites

This course is available for nominated staff who hold a current annual practicing certificate and have;

  • Successfully completed the medication certification process.
  • Successfully completed the Patient Safety Training
  • Been nominated by their Occupational Health lead and given a coupon code to access the course.

There is also an Assessment quiz and a Next steps module.
