Vaccinating Health Worker - Update

Like all authorised vaccinators in Aotearoa New Zealand, the VHW is also required to undergo an approved 2-yearly update training.

This course is designed for authorised Vaccinating Health Workers, stage one to update their knowledge. It is a requirement that all vaccinators complete an update every two years. Prior to starting this course, you must have completed the VHW Stage 1 Core Course and the two VHW stage 1, vaccine specific courses.  

The course does not repeat all the knowledge from your previous learning; rather, it is a refreshed overview of information.

Please note: You need to complete this updated course within 2 years from the date on your authorisation letter.

Prerequisites

You will already be working in the health sector and are:

• You hold a letter of authorisation as a stage one Vaccinating Health Worker
• You have completed both of the VHW stage one vaccine specific courses.

• Current immunisation issues
• Vaccine review
• Immunisation communication
• Vaccine administration

Assessment

At the end of the theory lesson, you will complete a multiple-choice assessment.

• There are 10 questions, and you must get 8 correct to pass.

Next Steps

On successful completion you need to upload your certificate to the online portal along with your updated CPR course.
