Overview

This course provides New Zealand authorised vaccinators with the theory and an introduction to the skills for endorsement in tuberculin skin tests and BCG vaccination for the public health management of tuberculosis disease as outlined in the Immunisation Handbook.

This course will take Approximately 8 hours including course assessment.

Prerequisites

Must have completed the Vaccinator Foundation Course and achieved Vaccinator Authorisation.

Course content

  1. Global Tuberculosis (TB)
  2. TB disease outcomes
  3. TB prevention
  4. Mantoux tuberculin skin testing
  5. BCG vaccination

Assessment

You will then complete an online open-book assessment in your own time. The TB/BCG initial vaccinator assessment is set to 25 multiple choice questions with 60 minutes to finish. To pass the course and download your certificate you need to answer at least 80% correctly. If you don't achieve this the first time, you can take the assessment again.

The course provides 8 hours of continuing professional development. On completion, you can print out a certificate as evidence of learning.
