IMAC Team Profiles

 

Dr Nikki Turner

A practising General Practitioner, Director of the Immunisation Advisory Centre (IMAC) and a Senior Lecturer in the Division of General Practice and Primary Health Care, University of Auckland. Nikki specialises in immunisation and preventive child health issues.

She has a background in the development of Wai Health, the primary healthcare services arm of Te Whanau O Waipareira Trust. She is currently working with the City Mission to develop a new primary care service for the homeless in Central Auckland. She is also an active member and health spokesperson for the Child Poverty Action Group.

She represents the Royal NZ College of General Practitioners and the Immunisation Advisory Centre on a number of Ministry advisory committees and is recognised by national and international media as a spokesperson on immunisation and child health issues. Nikki's main interests along with immunisation are in child poverty, and preventative child health.

Dr Marguerite Dalton


Marguerite is a practicing community Paediatrician with an interest in children with developmental problems and special needs. She has a passion for keeping children well and helping them to achieve their fullest potential and this links clearly with giving appropriate good quality evidence based advice such as provided by the Immunisation Advisory Centre.

Dr Lynn Taylor

Lynn completed her BSc (hons) in Nutrition and Dietetics and PhD in Clinical Nutrition at the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom.

She has a wealth of experience within the health sector with 4 years in hospital and community based clinical research, 6 years in clinical trials in the pharmaceutical industry, 10 years in sales, marketing and business development. Including head of Vaccines Division at GSK New Zealand and General Manager at MedTech Limited New Zealand.

Loretta Roberts

A specialist in adult teaching and clinical training methods, Loretta has lead the development of the Immunisation Advisory Centre’s National Education and Training programme for non-medical vaccinators, information sharers and updates for authorised vaccinators.

A highly experienced Registered Nurse with notable international knowledge of child health particularly in Asian markets, Loretta is passionate about making a difference.

Loretta manages the National Coordination Programme which focuses on working with General practices and practice nurses to increase immunisation coverage through assisting with practice management quality standards, clinical practice issues such as multiple site vaccination and vaccine storage and distribution concerns. Often this support includes  advice on how to assist parents with the choice to vaccinate their child.

Pauline Harrington

Pauline is of Ngati Whakaue, Tuhourangi and Cook Island descent. She joined the Immunisation Advisory Centre in 2001. Her background is in the public transport industry spending 17 years in the sector. Her responsiblities included ensuring daily scheduling of a public service, Human Resource, financials and the day to day operations of a busy metropolitian depot. In the latter part of the 90's she held the role of 2IC and joined the organisation with extensive experience in office managment and IT. In 2003 she was appointed as the Support Services Co-ordinator for the organisation. 

Pauline's more recent role is that of National Support Services Manager where she manages a team of Administrators and Information Communication Technology personnel. Her responsiblities include the day to day operations of the National and Remote Offices, Human Resource, financials, policies and procedures, websites, ICT platforms, databases, and information communication technology for the organisation, nationally.

Helen Petousis-Harris

Helen completed her BSc in Biological Science and Postgraduate Diploma in Molecular Medicine at the University of Auckland. She is currently registered as a Doctoral Student investigating individual factors associated with adverse events following immunisation.

Her other research interests include attitudinal and immunisation coverage.

Helen is the Director of Research and has been with the organisation since 1998.

Theo Brandt

BSc(Hons) Theo is Projects Manager for Research and Communications. Theo has worked across the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, within the University of Auckland. His work has included a number of Ministry of Health projects including a National stock take of befriending services, the evaluation of comprehensive health assessment tools and an exploration of the disability workforce.

Theo's current role with IMAC is focussed on ensuring that all research and communication projects are resourced and managed as well as possible.
