The Vaccine Safety Expert Advisory Group (VSEAG) was initiated and set up in June 2013 by the Immunisation Advisory Centre (IMAC) at The University of Auckland and the Centre for Adverse Reactions Monitoring (CARM) at the University of Otago. VSEAG comprises representatives from clinicians, scientists and policy makers who have either expertise and/or a professional interest in the safety of vaccines used in New Zealand.
Activities of the group
- Discuss unusual AEFI cases and assess causality and make collective decision on clinical advice
- Share and discuss NZ vaccine safety data in forum of specific vaccine expertise
- Collaborate with international groups and experts on vaccine safety issues
- Inform vaccine safety research strategies
- Provide position statements on vaccine safety
