Auckland region BCG vaccination clinics restarting

In February, Auckland Regional Public Health Service (ARPHS) paused its BCG vaccination clinics as staff were required for the COVID-19 response.

They are now in a position to reintroduce clinics, although these will operate at reduced levels for the time being. They also have a significant backlog of children to vaccinate from the last four months.

ARPHS will be booking appointments for children on the waiting list. They continue to receive birth lists from the DHBs and from these,  will be contacting parents to see if their child may be eligible for BCG vaccination.

It is likely to take a number of months to clear the backlog of children requiring BCG vaccinations. This may be further impacted if staff are redeployed to support the COVID 19 public health response as necessary.
