Overview

NOTE: This course will close on June 30th 2023, and the assessment will not be available for completion after this date.

This is course is for Provisionally Authorised Vaccinators, who completed their Provisional Vaccinator Foundation Course in 2021. These vaccinators are required to complete this course to maintain their Provisionally Authorised Vaccinator status. The course will provide provisional vaccinators with an overview of current best practice and updated knowledge and information required to provide high quality, safe and effective delivery of COVID-19, Influenza and MMR vaccines. Participants will understand the processes and systems which underpin vaccinator practice as outlined in the Immunisation Handbook and meet the minimum educational requirements for maintaining their status as a provisional vaccinator.

Prerequisites

  • Health professional with current Annual Practising Certificate
  • Knowledge and familiarity with the current Immunisation Handbook
  • Current Provisionally Authorised Vaccinator

Course structure

This course takes approximately 2* hours of online study which can be completed at your own pace over multiple sessions if necessary. There is no tutorial requirement.  You will then complete an online open-book assessment. Your certificate will be made available online upon completion of all course requirements.
*Note that the estimated time is based on the core coursework. Accessing suggested optional reading will increase the estimated time to complete.

  • Vaccine safety – anaphylaxis assessment and treatment
  • Storage and handling of vaccines
