Myths and Concerns

A critique of the pamphlet "What's all the fuss about?"

This critique is produced in response to concerns that the IAS pamphlet has been distributed at times as part of the informed consent process on immunisation. On reviewing the pamphlet we conclude that it is not evidence-based. It is both inaccurate and misleading. This critique is a revised and extended version of the one published last year.

Do multiple vaccines overwhelm the infants’ immune system?

Recent surveys including one conducted in New Zealand have found that parents are concerned about the amount of vaccines infants receive and that these may be overwhelming the immature immune system. Click here for more.

Thiomersal and Childhood Vaccines in NZ

Some parents have expressed concern regarding mercury in vaccines. There is only one vaccine in the current NZ childhood schedule which contains Thiomersal. For more information click and then follow the Thiomersal link (April 2002).
